dj image slider not working with ssl

We installed an ssl certificate. The site is running joomla 3.8.13 and i've installed the latest dj image slider. i set 'force https -entire site' in the global config - server tab. Now the images won't display on the homepage slider. When I inspect the code, the slider is correctly looking for the https image folder, and the image is in that folder.
