"Error installing Component"

Post by ArnorBld » Wed Apr 10, 2019 10:07 pm

Hi all,

I have a component that I've been working on on and off for the past 2 years. Recently it has started acting up when installing the component .zip file on the server. But all I get is "Error installing component" No further information so I'm lost in where to look for the problem!

Trying again to install usually works after 2 or 3 tries. Doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

The component has a script.php that is executed during installation and has code in the postflight method. However there hasn't been any change in this code for quite some time.

We are still running Joomla 3.8.13 on the server. We haven't had problems with any other components, so I strongly suspect the problem is in our component. But the error information is really not helpful.

Is there any way to find out WHAT exactly went wrong and triggered the error? I've checked all files in the logs folder and there is nothing there.

Best regards,
Arnor Baldvinsson - Icetips Alta LLC.

Could you check the error logs of your server?

Can you install the component in another Joomla website?
I would create a local Joomla test site using a local webserver XAMPP (Mamp, Lamp or Wamp).
If you are able to install it there, then the issue is probably server related.

Could you use Forum Post Assistant to give more information about your website?
