Extension updates showing for extensions which aren't there

Post by lisa489 » Wed Jul 17, 2019 1:22 pm

Good afternoon,

I have a problem, every time anyone logs on it says there are five extensions which need updating, please see attachment. These extensions aren't installed apart from the Russian one which wouldn't uninstall. It's disabled instead. This started right at the start when I put in the template.

I don't suppose they're doing any harm but they are annoying the website owners. I don't know how to get rid of them. Can anyone help?

Thanks,

Lisa

If you have already uninstalled the languages Chinese Simplified, German DE, Portuguese Brazil, and Romanian, try the following:

- Go to the Screen "Extensions: Update Sites"
- Click on the button "Rebuild"

What version of Joomla is being used in the site? The reason being, the Russian language pack's version is 2.5.1.3.

Hi,

Thanks very much for your quick reply. I tried rebuilding the update sites but unfortunately it didn't help. I'm using the latest joomla 3.9.10. The russian extension is probably such a low version because it has never been used or updated. I don't know where it came from.

When I try to remove the russian extension it says:
Warning
Package Uninstall: Missing manifest file.

First take a copy of your site (both files and database content) before attempting anything. As you are having Akeeba Backup, you could do this easily.

With the backup created, in a test environment, create a copy of the site for testing.

In the test site, install the languages Chinese Simplified, German DE, Portuguese Brazil, Romanian, and Russian.

After this, uninstall the unwanted language packs in the screen "Extensions: Manage".

Check whether this solves the problem. If it solves the problem, you could extend this procedure to the live site.

That's brilliant - it worked!

Thanks so much.
