Export Database to Spreadsheet Customization
We are in need of a custom database export of certain items somehow laid out a certain way in a spreadsheet.
Looking at developers they all want to build a custom component which is quite expensive.
Would it not be possible to export something a different way?
Any ideas?

Export from the database to a csv file using Mysql workbench or phpmyadmin.
A ODBC connection can also be used directly from Excel or Libre Office.

Re: Export Database to Spreadsheet Customization
Hi, sorry, not clear enough. We need very custom layouts for this. I am wondering if anything is available to map certain tables to customized layouts in a CSV.

Dave: "customised" layouts in a CSV, like how? CSV is CSV. You can probably "customise" (if that's the right term) the columns in a DB table that you want to select using phpMyAdmin as @Per suggested. However, if you use an ODBC connection directly into an Excel spreadsheet (for example) you can probably customise to your heart's content.
Alternatively, there may be extensions that allow some flexibility in selecting database content but I haven't investigated them because that's not something I'm especially interested in. If those extensions happen to be expensive (or, "too expensive", even) that's not something I can comment upon. There's an old saying in systems analysis: "As soon as you put a dollar sign in front of the answer, the solution will be immediately obvious".
Best of luck.

Re: Export Database to Spreadsheet Customization
There are export tools for Joomla wouldn't they do - or using something like Fabrik to create a custom solution? (assuming Fabrik would allow you to create an exportable report, etc).
Other suggestions per listing here:

Hi AMurray, I missed these but perhaps you are right. Thanks for pointing these out.
@sozzled, I'll look into ODBC connection and see what that might do.

Re: Export Database to Spreadsheet Customization
Would running a query corrupt the db? (I did not save anything...)
Seems some of my posts have been removed from here??
I also installed Fabrik to see what it would do, don't if that would have done anything? Seems Intial ID is not working on list..

Your posts about exporting with SOBI2 were split into their own topic so that different replies can be provided without confusion:rusty1001 wrote:Seems some of my posts have been removed from here??

Re: Export Database to Spreadsheet Customization
I was able to find a developer of a Joomla Extension from AMurray's suggested JED searches.
