Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

This is going to date me... years ago I used a product called Lasso on a WebStar server (Classic Mac OS) to integrate FileMaker databases with the web. It was easy to use and you could search, display and update your data very easily. Is there a Joomla extension that would provide similar functionality? Not with FileMaker, obviously, but with a MySQL database running in the Joomla server or elsewhere?
