JCH Optimize ruined my site

Post by Torini » Mon May 31, 2021 7:26 pm

JCH Optimize was installed.
Tried several settings of optimization and some of them ruined the look of the pages or just took ages to load.
I decided to disable it but then the situation became worse; the whole site changed in looked - totally ruined and resembled a C-64 screen...
Eventually I re-enabled it and it performs just OK.
My problems are:
1. Can't get rid of it
2. SP Page builder doesn't allow editing anymore in Front-End editor; it's crushed.
3. The footer isn't visible any more on main page and I simply can't bring it back/
4. Any item I add after the last item on the page never shows up!

Horrible.

Any ideas or advice please?

Thank you
T.

If you don't like JCH_Optimize then uninstall it. See viewtopic.php?f=706&t=960228 or viewtopic.php?f=715&t=967613&p=3550873

After uninstalling it, clear Joomla cache

Today I uninstalled JCH Optimize.
It's true that disabling is not working correctly but disabling is not crashing the site.
The footer became again visible.
However, the frontend editor brings error 404 page.
...and some java element is misbehaving.

So overall good and bad news...

Update:
I redid the uninstall process, cleaned the cache and now it works ok.
The reason it didn't work previously is related to the fact that I enabled some compress css and java in advanced settings of sp page builder and this made they site full of bugs.
More worrisome is the fact that after I undid the css and java settings, things didn't restore but some critical bugs remained.
Thanks to akeeba backup there is always a safe restore point.
Another thing that I realised is that the version with uninstalled JCH Opt. is getting a much lower score in site speed (metrix.com) compared to the version with JCH Opt. that has messed some part of my home page.
Go figure...

The most strange of all is the fact that JCH optimize hides now my footer and all rows that I create after the lower one that I created before I install JCH optimize.
Any idea why it is hiding them?

Thank you in advance.

Before using JCH Optimize always back up your site. then slowly make increments to changes on how much you want to optimise and check for errors after each change.

You can also check for errors using Google Chrome, inspect element. from there you can find out the source of your css or Js file whether Is it from a cache file.
