Just looking to see if anything like this has happened to anyone else. Its about flood protection.
Problem:
I cant post new topics on my message board after adding 40 thousand new rows to an sql table.
How did it happen:
So im using StackIdeas EasyDiscuss forum component.
I installed it and did some mods to link it correctly to my music database in my radio station.
There are 40 thousand audio files to link to. I was able to create a CSV file (two of them) so i can basically inject upwrds of 80,000 new lines in the sql database tables just for the forum.
80,000 new row is split between THREADS and POSTS. So its actually creating 40,000 new topics.
Ok so. Once i create the files and upload them into the phpMyAdmin area, it creates that many topics in a matter of about 4 minutes or less.
Each topic (in the sql commands) is shown as created by "My Admin Account Username"
The result:
I can do anything i need to when logged in as ADMIN on the front end of the site, but if i try to create a new topic on the forum, using the front end, the entire site times out.
This is ONLY for my account. I had someone else test out creating a topic and it worked for them.
I created a new account and set it as ADMIN, and there too, i can create new topics on the front end.
The fix:
I am trying to find anything in the back end of the site that protects against flooding but i see nothing so far. Because its only the admin account that cant create topics.
There is NO flooding protection setup on the forums cofiguration.
Thoughts?

If you customised the paid EasyDiscuss component, is it possible that those modifications are causing the issue in the creation of new topics?antifmradio wrote: ↑Wed Sep 08, 2021 10:02 pmSo im using StackIdeas EasyDiscuss forum component. I installed it and did some mods to link it correctly to my music database

I only used the phpMyAdmin to add a pass of new topics to it quickly.
Also that would imply that NO users can create new topics.
As i noted above, If i am not logged in as my admin account (user42)
but i AM logged in as some other admin account, i can create new topics from the front end.

Probably nothing to do with the issue, but was your 3.x site migrated from an earlier version of Joomla? The first user created by Joomla 3.x has usually a different id.

no migration taken place at all.
THe sites been on the same server for months.
Operating just fine as i develop and debug things.
no custom coding has been done to any components. Just editing config settings for them.
