Language drop-down and filter option missing

Hello all

I have a bilingual website in German and French language. I am using the Falang plugin to translate articles, categories, menus, etc. It is working as expected.

On the Smart Search - Content Map page in the Backend, I can see the number of indexed items by language: All, German and French.

But there is no language drop-down in the search form under Advanced Search. It seems to be disabled.

And on the Search Filters page in the Backend I can not add filters for languages, there are only author, category and type as options. It seems to be also disabled.

How can I activate this options?

The Joomla version is 3.10.1, the site was previously updated several times.
I assume that the options above are deactivated from earlier Joomla versions.

Falang is an extension and not the core multi-language functionality.

Smart Search automatically provides only the results in the language used in frontend or ALL languages. There is no language filter option to enable.

I see, so my installation should be all right.

The problem I have is that the French search results contains the same article twice, once the French version (marked as French) and one the German version (marked as ALL).

So my idea was to create a search filter for French language to get just the French results.
Is there a way to do that?

If I mark an article as German I can not use the falang translation anymore.

There is no obvious reason to tag to ALL the German article.
