Joomla 3.x and MS SQL

Post by johnkeusch » Wed Jul 26, 2017 4:39 pm

Hi,

Is anyone actually using Joomla 3.x (3.6) and MS SQL? I would like to update a very old Joomla 1.5 web site that uses mysql. We are a MS SQL/ Windows site and would like to continue with that. I have tried a lot od combinations but can not get any to work.

Thank-you very much

John

I will use whatever version of Joomla 3.7.4, etc. I just want to know if anyone actually has it working with MS SQL. If they do I will try to duplicate it with the same versions of Joomla, IIS, PHP, and MS SQL. We have tried several combinations but have had no success.

Mod. Note: Relocated the Topic from the Installation on Apache Server to the Installation on IIS Server Forum.

Most of the sites which we have seen on Windows servers are built in MySQL.

Just curious on if there is any specific reason you need to stick with MS-SQL and Windows server only?

We are a very small Microsoft shop, which would make it easier for everyone to help. Our current system (very old), is running Joomla 1.5, with mysql databases on a Linux server. Everything I read says it supports MS SQL but I haven't seen anyone that actually uses it.

The usage statistics for MS SQL are very low and we plan on dropping support for it with 4.0. MySQL would be the suggested database platform.

Now that I know that information, our decision is much easier. I guess we will be using MySql. Thank-you for the help.
