Joomla Access control issue
Hello,
I'm using trying to use joomla access control to limit the menu items. There are mainly 5 menu items( Level 1 Start, Level 2 Developing, Level 3 Aspiring, Level 4 Advanced, Level 5 Elite). Level 5 can access all content(from 1-5 ), Level 4 has access to (1-4), Level 3 (1-3), Level 2 (1-2), Level 1, (Just Level 1). I have achieved the menu control up to certain extent by using component called Membership pro(with basic url controlling.) But this will not work as it shows sub menu items when entered manually.
I really can't figure out the logic for the Joomla ACL(user groups etc.)Can anyone help me with this please. My site url is: http://coaching.touchtight.com

Re: Joomla Access control issue
Have you created the User Groups?
Registered->Level 1->Level 2->Level 3->Level 4->Level 5
The parent of Level 1 is Registered, and the Parent of Level 2 is level 1. The groups will then inherit permissions from the lower levels.
Create View Levels Level 1 to Level 5 and include the corresponding group.
Set menu items to a View Level.
Make a user member of one of the groups. That's all.

Re: Joomla Access control issue
Thanks for the reply, really appreciate it.
This does the trick, but my other menu items disappear. For example, if I log in as level 1 user my level 2,3,4,5 menu items will not be visible. Can I change this? I really need the other menu items to be visible and when clicked they should go to the Login page. Any ideas?
Thanks again,
Dilum.

I don't understand what you are trying to achieve. If the user do the login again, he will still be a Level 1 User.

Re: Joomla Access control issue
Sorry, I meant #registration page. For example, When a user is logged in to level 1 and when click level 4, site should give me a registration page or a error message. But anyway, other menu items should be visible. Is this achievable?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Joomla Access control issue
You can set Show Unauthorised Links in the Menu Modules.

Re: Joomla Access control issue
I'm afraid I can do that, as I'm using a gantry 5 custom menu item all the menu option are not there. This is really frustrating.

I finally found a way to bring the menu options, but now the Show Unauthorized Links feature is not working. Any ideas?

Re: Joomla Access control issue
Have you tried with the Protestar template?
Get help from the template vendor if it does not use a module to display the menu.
