Can I set up a new Admin to do a single page?

Post by chriswestcott » Fri Jul 07, 2017 10:05 pm

I need to give a person access to a single page (or set of pages within a Category).
Those pages are in the same Category so where do i create a new Group, under Public?
I can't get this to work!

"Access" ... to do what, specifically? Access to create or edit a single "page" (or set of "pages" with a category)? By "page" do you mean a Joomla article?

Or do you mean that you want to just allow someone to be able to view a certain "page" (a menu item or set of menu items) or to be able to view an article or set of articles within a category? ???

Sorry I wasn't clear.
I want to give that person the ability to edit an article or articles within a category.

Article editing on the front end or via the back end?

I wasn't aware it could be done from the front-end!

Yes, Joomla allows article editing from the front-end. Although it's possible to edit articles in the backend (and limit people's ability to change other aspects of your website) by assigning them with "Manager" permissions, the "Editor" permission allows people to edit articles on the front-end. Together with category permissions, you can limit an "editor's" ability to work within one (or more) categories.

For an overview about the user groups used within Joomla and what they can do, see https://docs.joomla.org/Changing_user_groups

Does this help?

It sure sounds like it does! I'll have a look shortly and respond later. Thanks VERY much!
