ACL permission to change the author of an item

Post by jackprince » Thu Jul 27, 2017 6:43 am

Hello community,

I currently struggle to find the correct spot to allow users within a specific user group to change the author of a given item.

Most notably and article item.

The group itself is a child of 'Managers', maybe this has to be changed.
Are there any permission settings not yet editable via ACL?

Hi there.
Did you find a way out of this issue?

I am assuming you mean the field Created By (as Author is a simple text field within the metadata set of fields).

The answer is deep within embedded code... A user can change the Created By only if he/she is a user manager (access to the administrator panel for users). This is enforced by the input field type User, so it is a challenge to make an exception.

If this special group who should be able to assign a different user may also be user managers, then you have a fairly easy solution. I'm guessing that is not the case.
