User Manager problems

Post by daisysmom » Fri Sep 01, 2017 2:25 am

This is a new install. I got the site up and the preliminary things all done. Went to set up a new User for my client to be able to edit pages, etc.

Some very flakey things are happening in User manager and I'm afraid the site is hacked. I deleted the account I made for the client after I began to see things not right. Now, when I click on Super User, It opens temporarily my information and all of a sudden it shows the information of the client that I set up (and deleted) in place of my information.

Has anyone had this happen to them in User Manager?

Joomla 3.7.5

Thanks for any help or suggestions!

This sounds like a caching issue, not being hacked. Sometimes web hosts employ caching systems that are incompatible with Joomla. The result is that user sessions get cached when they should not be.

You may find this topic helpful: viewtopic.php?f=714&t=949812 . Also I suggest contacting your hosting company and describing the problem.

I have other Joomla sites on this server and never noticed this happening with them.

Your point being that it cannot be a caching issue after all?

Then presumably it is a newly introduced caching system. Or a different server.

You asked the question "Has anyone had this happen to them in User Manager?" and I answered by pointing out that a number of people have posted about this type of issue over the years, and it has invariably turned out to be a caching issue.

You can choose to ignore that of course, it's your site. But if you are serious about wanting to fix it then you might at least try the solutions offered by previous posters, as listed in the topic I drew your attention to.
