ACL for Contacts (com_contact)

Post by ojoo20177842 » Thu Aug 16, 2018 10:29 am

Hi friends,

I have several users that I'd like to allow adding/editing contacts (com_contact).
I've added a usergroup under "manager" called "contactsadmin" and added my users to this group.
Then I went to components -> contacts -> options and set every acl option to "allow" for the new group contactsadmin.
Still, when one of the users logs in there is no Contacts in components menu.
Did the same for com_tags and it worked as expected.

Any idea what I'm missing?

TIA!

Set Registered as the Parent of the new group
In viewing/access Special level ... select the new group (Admin menu module is Access Special)
In Global config Permissions for the new group ... Allow Administrator Login
In the Component Options Permissions for the new group ... Allow Access Administration Interface (allows access to the menu item for the Component.

Hi Webdongle,

thank you for your reply!

Now I have:
Groups:
|Registered
+- contactsadmin

My test user:
Assigned group:
[x] | Registered
[x] +- contactsadmin
plus [x] Manager, where I had palced contactsadmin before

For com_contacts -> [Options] -> Permissions I have:
Registered / contactsadmin: every option set to allow.

For Users / Viewing Access Levels:
Special: Author, *contactsadmin*, Manager, Registered, Super Users

Still the user has no com_contacts in backend Components menu.
(I see com_tags and others, if that helps)

Any other hints?
TIA!

Re: ACL for Contacts (com_contact) -> SOLVED

Ah, got it.

In case anyone else might stumple upon this:
The user was in some other group also which had permissons to com_contacts set to "deny" instead of "inherited". So it was a deny/allow-priority thing.

Thanks anyway!
