changing article access back to public still forcing user to log in

Post by blacknell » Thu Feb 07, 2019 6:04 pm

I have created and edited an article with access set to Special. This is so we could finalise the content before making it available to the public.

Now, having changed it to Public access, it is forcing new users to the login screen - just as if it was restricted somehow.

I have nothing special in terms of users and groups ie the standard ones.

This happens in private browsing too and I've attempted to reset all the caches etc in the hope that made a difference.

I have no way of finding out what is triggering this behaviour. The apache logs show a 303, there are no errors in the php error log.

I'm running 3.9.1

Any ideas how I might trace why the page is being regarded as privileged content the user redirected to log in?

J! 3.9.1 is outdated.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTTP_303 is strange.

You changed the article ACL. What about the view access for the menu item used to display the article?

Otherwise, suspect server side caching at play; possibly a plugin enabled that shouldn't be enabled, perhaps?

There is no menu item, the article is accessed via a link on another page.

Point noted about 3.9.2

some more tests...

I created a brand new article and made it public. even this article is redirecting for log in.

Does anyone have any idea how I trace the logic so find out how this is occurring.
