ACL - 1 users group to 1 articles category

Post by Django290 » Mon Apr 20, 2020 10:13 am

Hello
I've seen how to allow access in the admin to only 1 articles category to a specific users group, but when we have a lot of categories, we need to disable the users group to each of all the other categories, and it can be tedious.

So, is there a way to make that when the super user registers a new user in a users group, this user is automatically assigned to a pre-defined articles categorie, and have access (create/modify/delete) only to these articles, and not to anything else in the admin ?

Create user group with 'Registered' as Parent
In global config (if you want them to login admin) only alter Permission of that new group Admin login ... otherwise don't alter Permissions in Global config.
In the Category allow the required Permissions (if you have child Categories they will inherit the Parent Category Permissions).

You could just set the Permissions per Article instead of Category. The main thing is not set them in Global config.

Thanks "Webdonge".
I tried this procedure, but then I had still to disable the access of the new users group for a few categories.

And this users group has still access to all the links of the admin menu. I want them to be able to only create/modify/delete articles in their category in the admin.

Then you gave that group Permission in global config.
CREATE A NEW GROUP WITH REGISTERED AS PARENT.

Only add Permission for Admin login. Do NOT alter any other Permissions in Global config. (oh you need to add the group in Special view level).

Do that first and When a member of that group logs in admin they will not see Articles, Categories or Components etc.

I created a users group with Registered as parent, the group agents.

For this user group, in the Global configuration, I have only : Site login and Administration login allowed.

For the access level of this group, I don't know what to do. "User Groups Having Viewing Access" to "Agents" ?

Then, on an articles categorie, I gave the permissions (create, delete, edit ...) to this user group. I have 1 article in this categorie.

Then, logout, and login as a user of the group : Connected, but nothing. Blank page.

Users >>> view/access levels >>> Special ... select the new user group

Addendum
You may need to Allow 'Access Administration Interface' in Content >>> Article ... Options

Works better with this access level. But no access to the articles of this category allowed.
No links in the menu to the category and articles. The only first article appears in the admin module "Recently added articles", but error 403 when I click it (no permission to access).
Yet I gave the permissions to this user group to this category and this article.

Are the Categories/Articles Public? If not then the user Group needs to be selected in that view level.
