No Admin access for any super user acct on my site
Hello,
I set up a new Joomla install a few days ago, happily got everything set up the way I wanted it, was ready to launch and went into the ACL menu to look at permissions. I didn't fully understand that all permissions groups inherit their permissions from the public group (I do now) and I denied administration access for the public group. I have a couple of super user accounts, one I created, one that was auto created and came with the install. Neither of them work. To this point I have gone into PHP MyAdmin and reset the password for my super user account, I have reset the view levels to the default, and I have tried to set the publish value of the Admin Module to 0. None of these have worked to get me back into the admin menu, and I have reset the publish of the Admin Module back to 1. Can anybody suggest a possible fix? I was literally on the last step to publishing this site, and really don't want to have to do a restore.

Previous to that I also denied superuser permissions to the public group as well, but it booted me out after I denied administration access to the public group, so that's why I believe the issue is the administration menu access.

Thanks for the reply. Just so happens, I already do have a test Joomla. I will compare and get back to you shortly.

It does look I still do have Superuser access assigned. The user IDs vary between the two sites, but the permissions appear to still be in place. Both accounts have 8s for the group ID.

And 8 is still the group ID assigned in the usergroups table.

Next compare Assets table, id #1 ... 'rules' field
Also have a look at view levels
Adendum
In Global config, changing the Permissions alters values in the Assets table, id #1 ... 'rules' field

Re: No Admin access for any super user acct on my site
There is a difference in the lft anfd rgt columns.
My site:
0/195
Test site:
1/169
Don't fully understand what these columns represent. But I changed them, and the login error changed when I tried to log in, stating that: the security token did not match. The request was aborted to prevent any security breach. Please try again.
Otherwise the row appears identical.

Second login attempt went back to stating I didn't have administrator permissions.

Whoops, I missed some differences in the rules column. Once I updated that from my test site over to my site I was able to login. Thank you so much! I appreciate your help!

I don't understand the lft and rgt columns either. Think they are something to do with the position of where something is displayed.
Don't worry about a donation, just pass on the good will. And remember to be kind because you cannot always see someone else's pain.

lft and rgt columns is for the Multi Level Item Tree.
lft and rgt points to previous and next Item in the same Level.
