Group permissions levels

Post by spottedhaggis » Thu May 26, 2022 6:39 am

Im struggling with something that should I think be simple so am assuming I am missing one little thing.

I have 2 membership level groups, full and part, both are set with public as parent.
Users register, and are manually placed into either of these groups.
A member logs in and a new menu link appears for them
We have to add each user into their own group and the registere group in order to be able to set the menu to be hidden from public viewing, and this I think is the issue.

I need the menu to appear if either of the member groups appear but not registered, because in other parts of the site I need onlky one group to be able to see specific content and the other to see other content, but of course I cant setup permissions like that

Is there any plugin that lets me specifiy multiple groups to access a system.

Set the menu module for that menu and the menu items in that menu to 'Guest'. Make sure the user groups are not selected in the 'Guest' user group.

Thanks, but when I do that the menu is viewable to non logged in people.

perhaps my explanation was bad let me try again.

I have 2 member groups, both can have access to this specific menu when logged in, but until logged in the menu is hidden.

Within other parts of the site I use the 2 member groups to set viewing of specific areas for each of the groups.

The problem is, in order to be able to hide the menu from non logged in people I need to set it to either registered or one of the 2 membership groups, but if I set it to one of the groups, then the other group cant see it, and if I set it to registered the menu works as it should do.

Maybe the issue I am having isnt user groups, but more Docman. Im trying to specifically show files in docman to one user group, and different files to the other user group, but docman has each as registered so both groups see both files.

Then a view/access level called 'Both'
Select the two user groups in the 'Both' view/access level
Set the menu module 'Both'

N.B.
'Both' can be called 'Almost anything'
