Is 'Restricted Access' obsolete?

Post by GillianBPP » Sun Mar 21, 2021 4:45 pm

I noticed when copying over the templates/system/error.php file to my new template in J3.9.25 that this code:

Code: Select all

defined( '_JEXEC' ) or die( 'Restricted access');
is now just

Code: Select all

defined('_JEXEC') or die;
I presume both will still work, but why the change?

The instructions in Joomla Docs for creating a custom 404 page include the 'Restricted access' part.

Thank you in advance.

It's just a matter of whether you want to show a message or a blank page.
