Adding access control to my component

Post by david0058 » Fri Apr 15, 2022 8:31 am

I have a reasonably complex component that I originally wrote a few years ago with a front end that public users use and a backend that only the superuser used - really simple access needs.

However now I need to allow non-superuser admins to access the backend, and I don't know how to configure my component so that when it's installed it appears in the backend menu that these users see. Currently it only appears if I log in as superuser.

I've read loads about how to check access *within* the component to add/edit/delete functions, and also how to configure the ACLs in joomla but that's not my problem here, I think I need to do something in my access.xml.

Any tips welcome :)

David
