How to know what went wrong?

Hey, i'm still new to creating joomla extensions. One thing I find to be extremely frustrating is that, when I have a error i just get redirected to my index.php. Is there a way I can get the reason a error occur?

Just to be more clear, I have set my php.ini to show error when it occur. And this does work. But when the error come from joomla, I do not have any clue why something fail. In my current case, I am trying to use com_ajax.

Go to Global Configuration > Server and set Error Reporting to Development
