Bootstrap performance problem

Post by oslicku » Mon Oct 15, 2012 10:23 am

I have been playing around with a couple of different installs of 3.0 on my Google Nexus 7 tablet Android (4.1.2) and also on my Samsung Galaxy mini (Android 2.3).

I have to say that after a day or two using the new version I think it is mile better than 2.5.

One issue I have noticed is the performance of the main admin menu when it's collapsed. I'm basically talking about the three bars that appear in the top right which when tapped/clicked reveal the full admin menu.

On both devices mentioned above the menu can take 2-3 seconds to appear once the icon has been tapped. At first I thought it wasn't working but it's just that it takes ages to appear. Obviously, this is not good from a user experience point of view as I know many users aren't as patient as I am.

Contrast this to the m.bbc.co.uk/news where when you hit the 'sections' menu the sections are revealed immediately.

Does the main menu really need a javascript animation (which is what I am assuming slows it down) or should it just been a css display none/block toggle?
