Joomla 3.7.3 - Address disappears on contact page
Hi
I don't have a github account so thought I'd report what seems to be a bug in the latest update to 3.7.3.
After upgrading, a few fields disappear on the core contact component despite being enabled in the backend.
City or Suburb
State or Province
Postal/ZIP Code
Country
There may be others but these are the ones I've noticed. The site I upgraded runs PHP 7 so I rolled back to 5.6.30 to check if PHP was the cause but it didn't help, the issue remained. I also tried changing the template to see if this was the cause but it wasn't.
I also tried upgrading another Joomla website and it happened on that site too. I have backups so can roll back to 3.7.2 if I need to but I though't I'd raise the issue here as I imagine it will affect others as well.

Re: Joomla 3.7.3 - Address disappears on contact page
The patch suggested here https://github.com/joomla/joomla-cms/pull/16971 does not fully fix the problem mentioned.
After applying the patch to a Joomla 3.7.3 site using Protostar, some contact fields still are not shown, while others supposed to be hidden are indeed shown.
Unfortuntaly I don't know how to use Github and to report this as issue to be reopened.

Contact address is not displaying
Hi,
1. We create contact in Joomla contact component.
2. Added address
3. Created menu item to display created contact form.
But address field is missing on front-end.
Is there any configuration what we are missing?
We checked contact component configuration, and menu item configuration, we have settings to display address field.
Please advise,
Sandra

Re: Joomla 3.7.3 - Address disappears on contact page
I know this is a known bug. Any chance of a "quick fix" being released or am I going to have to roll back to 3.7.2 so that my contact us page will work?

Check the tracker if they fixed it. Don t roll back to 3.7.2 as this version is vulnerable and you will have the chance to get hacked.

Re: Joomla 3.7.3 - Address disappears on contact page
Had same problem with component contacts and went back to 3.7.2. with 3 websites. Now installed 3.7.4. and checked contact page again; but unfortunately 3.7.4. did not fix this bug so had to go back to 3.7.2. again. which I do not want because of the vulnerability to hackers...
Anyone an idea?

Downgrade is a bad idea. Please update to 3.7.4 . After you can clear your joomla and browser cachePaulSchram wrote:Had same problem with component contacts and went back to 3.7.2. with 3 websites. Question for PaulSchram: 3 websites out of how many websites where you have this problem?

3 out of 3 so I think it's a joomla release bug.

It s your sites and your decision to have vulnerable joomla sites. Just a note, dont have after the question why you will be hacked in the future.PaulSchram wrote: so no thanks

Re: Joomla 3.7.3 - Address disappears on contact page
Hi PaulPaulSchram wrote:3 out of 3 so I think it's a joomla release bug.
The issue resolved itself for me after updating to 3.7.4. Are you sure it's not a caching issue?
If it's of any help, I added the address in a field I wasn't using (the mobile phone number in my case) as a temporary workaround whilst waiting for a fix.
Hope this helps

Re: Joomla 3.7.3 - Address disappears on contact page
This doesn't establish that it's "a Joomla release". This doesn't establish anything. This only says that one person (out of thousands) has all their sites with a similar problem.PaulSchram wrote:3 out of 3 so I think it's a joomla release bug.
Do all of these websites have anything in common? For example, do all of these websites use the same template?
I have an idea for you: change one of the site's templates to Protostar; update to J! 3.7.4 and then tell us if you have this problem. Can you do that, please?

Re: Joomla 3.7.3 - Address disappears on contact page
just updated on of the sites to 3.7.4. and used protostar; the contactpage displayed well but you need to click on the information form (email) to display it (no option to set it to Direct) and on the Miscellaneous Information to have it displayed (not direct). when back to original template it's messed u again. the miscellaneous info jumps from right to bottom and back and the information email is lost.
so think there is some sort of override made by the template that should be amended with these new joomla updates. am i correct?

Bad template causes address information to disappear on contact page
Are you correct in thinking that the template you were using needs to be fixed? Yes, you are correct in thinking that the template you were using needs to be fixed.PaulSchram wrote:... updated one of the sites to 3.7.4. and used protostar [and everything works] ... there is some sort of override made by the template that should be amended with these new Joomla updates. I'm pleased we've solved this problem for you. This is not a J! 3.7.3 (or J! 3.7.4) problem. This is your problem.
We had a discussion on this same subject only a couple of days ago: see viewtopic.php?f=706&t=953153
