Editing Module settings in frontend with selected Template Style
When editing settings of a module in the frontend through: http://DOMAIN/component/config/?control ... dules&id=1
The default template is used. But when a menu item ''Site Configuration Options' is created with http://DOMAIN/index.php?option=com_conf ... lay.config
and has a Template Style selected in details settings.
The module in the frontend should use that template, not the default template.
There doesn't seem to be way to specify a template style for frontend module settings editing.

Re: Editing Module settings in frontend with selected Template Style
Menu items can be configured to display their target page in a Template of choice
but
Modules are displayed within Template positions they do NOT control what Template is dis displayed for a page.

Re: Editing Module settings in frontend with selected Template Style
I understand, but when editing a module in the frontend, it actually uses component-config (com_config) so it should be possible to target that with a menu item and a template of choice.
Simply by using the menu item Site Configuration Options.

Re: Editing Module settings in frontend with selected Template Style
Yes and No
When editing a module Yes you can set it to appear to any given menu item(s)
When editing a module No you can NOT specify a Template for the module.

Re: Editing Module settings in frontend with selected Template Style
@rakeshy you are correct - @webdongle has not understood your question
From my perspective this is a bug because there is no ItemID being set when you open the page for editing a module.
Can you please create a bug report at https://issues.joomla.org

Re: Editing Module settings in frontend with selected Template Style
actually just remembered why it doesnt work this way and it is the intended behaviour.
The menu item determines the template style, the component AND the modules displayed on the page. So if you try to edit a module that does not exist on the page for site configuration options it wont work

Re: Editing Module settings in frontend with selected Template Style
The module I intend to change the settings for, is linked to a position with menu item that has Protostar as the selected Template Style.
When clicking the edit icon/button to change the settings of that module (located in the Protostar template), the module opens in the default template and not the one linked to that menu item.
Really do think frontend editing modules should use the itemID of the menu item it is linked to.
Or it should use the menu item (Template Style) from a menu item that uses 'Site Configuration Options'.
