Same problem here. Reinstalled plg_webinstaller_3.7v1.1.1.zip. Now it works again.

Re: Installer - Install from Web V2 update not connecting to joomla server
According to the above link the plugin Installer - Install from Web, v2.0.0 was updated today. Selecting Extensions - Manage - Update works all right and the extension itself is working.
What do you think is wrong with this extension? Can one of you provide more information, please.

Thought I would let you guys know
Cheers

Re: Installer - Install from Web V2 update not connecting to joomla server
I tested v2.0.0 from both localhost and a remote server and both connect all right. Are you perhaps behind some firewall that is blocking the connection?

Re: Installer - Install from Web V2 update not connecting to joomla server
The Install from Web tab works all right in Chrome v73 but fails in Firefox v66 because of Cross-Origin Read Blocking (CORB).
The AJAX request to get the details of the JED extensions works all right in Microsoft Edge but fails also in Internet Explorer 11 with the message "Can't connect to the Joomla! server. Please try again later."

Re: Installer - Install from Web V2 update not connecting to joomla server
Thanks, @toivo. I mainly use Firefox. I might hold back on updating Installer - Install from Web to v2.0.0 until we get to the bottom of the problem. Thanks, @Webdongle, for pointing to the GitHub discussion on the issue. It might be preferable to pull the update from the server and avoid flooding the forum with pleas for help.

install from web is not working
I've got a problem getting the install from web working on local host. After upgrading a older (previous) version of Joomla 'Install from Web' doesn't work any more. It's there, but I get the error message:
Can't connect to the Joomla! server. Please try again later.
To solve this I followed the instructions in the documentation. I deactivate the Install from Web plugin, go back to Install, which will Install from Web. This worked until today for me. Now I get the same error message.
How do I get Install from Web working on local host?

Which browser are you using?Gany wrote:How do I get Install from Web working on local host?
Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge and Opera work all right, populating the 'Install from Web' dashboard on localhost. Firefox and Internet Explorer report the error. These results are consistent with test results from Joomla 3.9.4 hosted on a remote server, using the Install from Web v2 that was released yesterday

It's fixed now. Extensions >>> Manage >>> Update ... finds it and you can then install it. https://github.com/joomla-extensions/in ... -480253741

Re: Installer - Install from Web V2 update not connecting to joomla server
Testing on localhost and remote site confirms that Firefox and IE11 are now working with the new version v2.0.1 of the plugin.

Re: Installer - Install from Web V2 update not connecting to joomla server
It begs the question ... 'Does it mean that FF and IE11 have old coding that was the cause of the new code (in plugin v2) ?'

Re: Installer - Install from Web V2 update not connecting to joomla server
I'm using Firefox. After reading the threat I tried Opera and Chrome, where the plugin does work. I can confirm it's related to Firefox only.

reinstalled the plugin in FF, it works excellent now.

Re: Installer - Install from Web V2 update not connecting to joomla server
Yes I know it was only ff that it didn't work with. But what I meant was ...
Is it some code in ff that is old and not compatible with the plugin OR does ff have more secure code than the other browsers thus preventing the plugin from reaching the download site?
