Can you post your category tree? I'm seeing these:
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Bingo! That is what should display for "List all Categories!"
Now the question is, how did YOU display it vs. how WE have the settings.
Back to you.

I clicked the plus sign to on the right to expand the categories. It's the same as in J3.

OK Folks, here's the deal:
If you look to the right of the names of the Categories, you will see a "+" sign.
If you click it, it expands the Category to show sub-items. In this case, when one opens, another "+" sign appears to open the Category that was just set to display on the list.

The "List All Categories" needs a new name, OR ...

How about a column heading on the right. Like a simple word = "Expand" which at least gives you a clue.

The "+" sign could be more prominent too.

Whoever is programming the back-end seems to have this "thing" for using "+" signs all over the place.

Anyway, the hard to find solution has been found. Sherlock and Dr. Watson can move on to the next case.

And I can continue on this Chapter in our new book: "Joomla! 4: Boots on the Ground" which will be coming out in about 2 months or so.

It will be available as an online edition via a J 4 website. But can't talk about it here.

Thanks all you guys that looked at this. Am still wonder if the accordion should just expand automatically with options to close. In any case, new we know the "hidden conditions" involved.

Thanks for the update about yet another J! 4 "gotcha". Talk about the developers dumbing things down for gumby J! 4 users, huh?

I wouldn't describe the change in the design as a complete surprise. Perhaps the term "easter egg" would be more appropriate? ;)

As I mentioned earlier in this discussion, I don't think the design of the Cassiopeia has been set in stone. The Frontend Template Working Group is still talking about making alterations ... even at this late hour. It may be better holding off on releasing your novel until we're closer to a release candidate (not that I would know when that's gonna happen).

This is exactly the same as in J3, just with uglier design.

"Uglier" is right. If Joomla! 4 was a teenager, she would never get invited out on a date!
