Suggestion for creating a new free template for Joomla 4
Joomla! 4 is coming soon. We all find the time long to be able to use it. Today we are in beta 5. The next version, which should be beta 6, will include the new Cassiopeia template meeting the latest A11Y standards and incorporating a new menu (Metis Menu).
This template is very good. But it seems to me incomplete and especially difficult to tame for new users. I take the example of the logo which must absolutely be in .png to accept the blue background which can only be modified by coding the CSS.
This is why I want to create a template for the Joomla community. Accessible to all for free and can be used simply by the template admin. As for the format there is nothing to think about, it will just be bootstrap 5.0 only with no color and format changes. For example: we can discover all the templates already online> https://getbootstrap.com/docs/5.0/examples/
Pictured here is the blog view example.
At menu level, only the default menu should be used in the documentation. to be closest to bootstrap 5.0
For the layout and name of the modules, I think we should keep the Cassiopeia names and locations, to allow easy switching from one to the other.
Then to make the template easily customizable and adaptable to everyone, I am thinking of creating a very complete admin allowing us to easily change the colors, primary, secondary, alert, etc ... In fact I am thinking of all the bootstrap colors : root in this on the three sections of the template. If you know one of the Joomla templates, I think it works very similar to the Ja-Simpli template> https://www.joomlart.com/joomla/templates/ja-simpli
It is a template that can be configured without a framework and therefore very solid and requires very little updating. I believe this is an important element for the stability of websites. This template allows several layouts, landing page, magazine, blog, etc ... But also several color choices and customizable layout. For example to put the logo on the left, in the center,… to choose one or more menus…
But now, I'm not a developer. I tinker with the CSS a bit and that's it. That’s why I’m looking for help. So if like me, you like Joomla, and you want to share your experience, join me on my github page> https://github.com/Magnytu2/Marie-Louise
For information, I have already found a name for the template. A French name, because I am French and because there is a story of logic. More explanation> https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marie-lou ... t.&text=Le% 20r% C3% B4le% 20de% 20la% 20marie, dor% C3% A9% 2C% 20color% C3% A9% 20de% 20diverses% 20fa% C3% A7ons.
Thank you for your participation in this project to start 2021 with a smile and for the community.

Hi.
When a template has the capabilities you described, it is a framework.
And for a long time there is such a template, even better than you described.

The banner change to the default template in a nuisance and no beginning Joomla! 4 user is going to be able to do it. We have Bootstrap 4, so why isn't it used to create a "visual control" panel for the template to allow colorization changes, logo insertions and text change.
A new, free, alternative default-use template is sorely needed.

Re: Suggestion for creating a new free template for Joomla 4
If JA Simpli gets a J!4 version I would be happy. It's a flexible template with a nice customizer. I use it on a few sites and they all look differently.
If there will be a J!4 version I'll probably switch to it for other sites I made.

A couple of Framework shops have released updated versions, but nothing solid yet with templates for J! 4.

Don't forget Astroid by joomdev:
https://www.joomdev.com/astroid
Installed on joomla 4 RC5, select astroid template one, the version for joomla 4
Last update dates back to march 2021 but it works OK on J!4 RC5. Just tested on this version.

Thanks for the heads up ghazal. Will explore their template and run it through RC5.
