Front and backend in Joomla 4 stable

Post by RGVSchlichting » Sun Sep 16, 2018 2:34 pm

Hello,

I'am hosting a number (about 80) of Joomla sites.

Webmasters did ask me 2 questions :

1 In Joomla 4 stable will there be the Isis backend template ?
2 In joomla 4 stable will there be the Protostar frontend template ?

I tried to find the answer on joomla.org, could'nt find.

Kind regards
Richard Schlichting

Hello Richard,

If you download latest Joomla 4.0 alpha 4 (https://github.com/joomla/joomla-cms/re ... 0.0-alpha4), you'll find your answer:
- Backend template : atum (see https://www.joomla.org/announcements/re ... mla-4.html)
- Frontend template : cassiopeia

Joomla 4 is Bootstrap 4 driven, so no Bootstrap 2 templates will work.

Joomla 4 will not ship with Protostar/Isis. Protostar should continue working (although with poor styling) but Isis probably won't due to many changes in administrator area.

Hello Joomla companion's,

An "Error 404" was given when I entered : http://bj.zemplate.com/protostar-respon ... -positions
So it seems that the Protostar developers website is not longer in the air.
What does that mean foor the future of Protostar in Joomla 3 and maybe ? Joomla 4.
Kind regards
