Hi,

Anybody know why support for SQL Server is going to be dropped in Joomla 4.0?

Because there is not enough people to support this database driver.

Often, J3 does not work correctly on MS SQL Server, but no one has sent an issue or tested the proposed solutions.

Each change (proposed PR at https://github.com/joomla/joomla-cms/pulls) should be tested by at least two people. Changes related to sql queries should be tested on three types of database database.
Testers usually do not test it on MS SQL Server and rarely on PostgreSQL.

The number of users using SQL Server is very small and almost no one supports the joomla in this topic.
https://developer.joomla.org/stats/db_type
https://developer.joomla.org/about/stats.html

As an example, several proposed PRs are still waiting for tests:
https://github.com/joomla/joomla-cms/pull/23210
https://github.com/joomla/joomla-cms/pull/23213
https://github.com/joomla/joomla-cms/pull/23211

I just found this because i'm new to joomla and I want to use ms sql for the backend instead mysql. I have been using ms sql for years and while i'm not a dba i am comfortable managing ms sql servers. It is a done deal that this ms sql support is dead? I would be able help test things out to keep the support in joomla.
