pdf embed in article via frontend

Post by woutv12 » Sat Jun 25, 2022 8:47 am

Hi,
When creating an article in the backend of Joomla 4 and embedding a pdf file, this works perfect. I use the standard way of embedding a pdf in the editor by selecting Media and then selecting the correct article. When looking in the frontend to the created article it contains the pdf embedded in a frame.
However when doing the same thing via the front end (user created with editor rights) this seems not to work and the mentioned article contains a text specifying that there is no pdf plugin available and I should download the pdf article.
I already checked the html code generated for the two ways of working (switching of editor in the backend) and there is a difference: the frontend does not contain the embed code.Of course I can change that in the backend, but the idea is that the customer himself can upload new documents without having access to the backend. Joomla site https://woutconsultingtest.joomla.com Tab catalogi article "cataloog test 5"

Thanks for any help

I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be looking for.

There are no embedded PDFs or links to PDFs on your site. There is no menu item "catalogue test 5". Maybe it's because it requires registered user access? Set it to public for the purpose of this question?

An alternative suggestion, perhaps use a download manager like Phoca Download, which can accommodate Registered users uploading files (and maintaining their own). https://extensions.joomla.org/extension/phoca-download/ I believe Phoca also allows you to enter a link to a file (via "short-code") in an article.

Hi,
The website for catalogs is only available if you select "Nederlands" as a language. Then you can select "catalogs" which displays a list of articles. The one with title "catalog test 5" is the one uploaded from the frontend and causes the problems. visitors are not supposed to have to download the article(s). Some people however should be able to upload new content as a pdf embedded article.
