Where to give suggestions?

Post by vicn1222 » Wed Jul 14, 2021 6:32 pm

I wonder if the development team will read posts here, or where can I give suggestions?

In Joomla configuration.php, there is a flag $sef_suffix being "0" or "1", with "1" being hard-coded as "html".

Is it possible to make it user supply suffix, such as "html", "htm", "cfm", or what user gives, or empty for no suffix. Of course if user gives "foo" as suffix, that is his choice, although I don't think people will do that.

With that, it become very flexible.

I try to change the code because my suffix is "htm", but I don't know the system well enough to make quick change (being playing with Joomla for only a few weeks). Developers who are familiar with the system probably take 10 minutes to do it...

Hope it can get into J3 and J4...

Excellent framework. I do have some more suggestions, which will make Joomla become website builders #1 choice. But it is probably harder. I have being using Qt for more than 20 years, some of its features can be added here....

It is not hardcoded to html but rather depends on internal document type. Html for HTML pages, feed for feed pages and so on. I don't see much value making this configurable at a core level. And you'd have to look out for conflicts in case new document types are added.

I do google search and found a lot of people struggle to make “htm” as suffix in joomla. So there is demand for that.

HTML has two suffixes: “html” and “htm”. Only “html” is considered in joomla.

Hope there is an easy way to solve it.

HTM was mainly used in the ancient days when the operating systems were not strong enough to hold four-letter extension

Problem is that existing site is already in “htm”. If it is a new site, sure “html” will be used.

I solve it by using URL ReWrite in .htaccess.

Thank you!
