Upgrade from Joomla 3.10 to 4.0
Hi all,
Now, when we have Joomla 3.10 RC1 and Joomla 4.0 RC5, what's the proper way to upgrade the current Joomla 3.9 website (for testing purposes)?
I updated successfully to Joomla 3.10 RC1 by selecting the Testing channel and Release Candidate for Minimum Stability in Joomla Update component.
However, I don't see a way to upgrade from Joomla 3.10 RC1 to Joomla 4.0 RC5.
Thanks

That should work. Perhaps you need to clear the cache - should be a button on the Joomla Update component page.
By the way, the stable releases are coming in 2 weeks.

Re: Upgrade from Joomla 3.10 to 4.0
I cleared the update cache many times, tried a different browser, but no results. I am still on 3.10RC1 and it says "Joomla is up to date".
Currently, in the update component, it's set to Testing/Release Candidate. If I change it to Joomla Next, it also doesn't work. In this case, there's no option to select Release Candidate (so, I guess it's waiting for the stable version).
Under "Extensions Pre-Update Check", there were few extensions marked as "No Compatibility Information". Even after I uninstalled all of them, Joomla is still not offering update to Joomla 4.0RC5.
Thanks,
Milos

Re: Upgrade from Joomla 3.10 to 4.0
Switch in the update component the Update Channel to “Custom URL” and set the Custom URL to “https://update.joomla.org/core/test/310to4_list.xml”
Now you can update to the latest 4.0 Release Candidate.
Now you can update to the latest 4.0 Release Candidate.

Re: Upgrade from Joomla 3.10 to 4.0
I successfully updated my Joomla version 3.9.28 to 3.10 today.
After an hour, I went to Joomla ACP again but there was NO new update from 3.10 to the new Joomla version 4.0
My hosting uses PHP version 7.3.25.
Will Joomla 4.0 work on that PHP version?
1. Should I wait for a stable version of Joomla 4.0.
2. Will the upgrade appear automatically?
My additional question
3. How to switch in the update component the Update Channel to "Custom URL" and set the Custom URL "https://update.joomla.org/core/test/310to4_list.xml" (please step-by-step -> where, how, what?)

Re: Upgrade from Joomla 3.10 to 4.0
You need to change the “update channel” to “Joomla Next”.
You can do this in either Global Configuration for the Joomla Update component or from within the Joomla Update component itself.
Please make sure that your installation (inc all extensions) are ready. Changing to “Joomla Next” will trigger the pre-check function. Let it run

@JAVesey, thank you for your answer.
I did as you said but there was a problem (see attached images).
What should I do?
