Error after SSL activation in multi-language site

Post by joaquiman » Fri Oct 15, 2021 6:39 am

Hello,

Since the activation of SSL here is the problem:
- When the site OFFLINE -> too many request
- When the site ONLINE -> Error 404
Only the main page doesn't work (teamoptc.com) while for example teamoptc.com/index.php/en/our-services works, but is not secured (SSL)
Probably a redirection problem... Here is the technical information provided by OVH:

# wget teamoptc.com
Will not apply HSTS. The HSTS database must be a regular and non-world-writable file.
ERROR: could not open HSTS store at '/root/.wget-hsts'. HSTS will be disabled.

Thank you in advance for your help.

It shows "Article not found". Check the default menu item.

Is this site set up as a Multi Language Site?

If not, disable the Language Filter Plugin.

Has the htaccess.txt also been renamed to .htaccess ?
And at Global Configuration > Server tab > Force HTTPS entry site ?.
and there is also this explanation. if you scroll further you can try that again to see if that works
HTTPS must be enabled on your server or load balancer to use this option. Enable 'Behind Load Balancer' if your SSL ends on your load balancer, but your site is served on http on its web server.

Thank you for your answer.
I checked, the default menu is okay I think.
It's a Multi Language Site.
For information, when I connect to joomla then I go to the yootheme generator and I open a new window the site "teamoptc.com" works well.

On the server, in the main folder there is .htacess, and in the www folder it is htaccess.txt (photo attached)
I have already tried "Force HTTPS" and this is the error message (photo attached)
I have just activated "Behind Loas Balancer" modification validated but there is no change...

Rename the htaccess.txt to .htaccess
Also make sure you have NOT put the url in the livesite var in configuration.php

I have already forced the SSL.
The SSL is active now and I have a secure connection.
The problem now is that the site :
ONLINE -> 404 Article not found
OFFLINE -> This page isn't working "www.teamoptc.com" redirected you too many times.

Following the name change of the file my website shows a secure SSL connection! :)
In the configuration.php variant, there is nothing.

Do you have any custom redirects in .htaccess?

do you have an sll certificate e.g. from let's encrypt
set in your host environment .
Your administrator side still indicates insecure connection here.

Yes I have an SSL certificate (like in the picture).
When the website is OFFLINE -> No SSL
ONLINE -> SSL (like in the screenshot)

I'm not sure but could it be that the firewall is blocking things now?
And doesn't your hoster have a help page where you can search for problems with Joomla?
i have to say i don't recognize your pictures but my hoster is using directadmin and i think this is plesk ?

For the firewall, I don't think so in this case.
I contacted OVH support, they told me it's a redirection problem in the FTP and it's an joomla file.
The pictures are from OVHcloud, the hosting (it's the 4th largest in the world).

I think this might be worth another try
Go to your main menu
check everything and click rebuild
and also check whether you have checked a start page (yellow/orange asterisk) that exists

When I am connected to Joomla, I open yootheme and then open a new window to go to the site, it works perfectly with SSL.

and you are really sure that at Global Configuration seo
Search Engine Friendly URLs
Use URL Rewriting
stand on? and the language plugins too ?
I couldn't think of anything else like that
or there must be something in one of those htaccess
in your management environment

Because teamoptc.com/ redirects to teamoptc.com/index.php then it suggests one of the following:
  • You have not enabled (in Global config) 'Use URL Rewriting'
  • You are not using Joomla's .htaccess
  • #RewriteBase in the .htaccess needs to be uncommented
  • mod rewrite is not active on your server
  • There is something wrong with your ssl certificate

Yes, it is a multi-language site.
* I have enabled "Use URL Rewriting" (Screenshot attached)
For the next points I don't really know how and what I need to change...
Maybe I can manually change the redirection to http://teamoptc.com/index.php because it represents no page in my website...

For exemple https://www.teamoptc.com/en/our-company works very well.
Just the main page doesn't work because teamoptc.com redirect to http://teamoptc.com/index.php and this is not a page of my website. It doesn't exist. So I need to know how and what I change this redirection, I think ?!

I have requested the mods move this to the language board. This could be a menu problem. Someone monitoring the language board will be able to explain how to configure the menus on a multi language site.

Setting up a multilingual Joomla! Create website/menus.
I think that every language menu should also have a start page but

Check that is correct on your site.

Good morning, gentlemen,

Thank you for your feedback. I have restructured the website, however, I still have the same problem of "ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS". Also, the menus are no longer displayed on the site even after looking at the tutorial several times. I made a small video to show you https://youtu.be/9OZQhTKfnN0.
