Site transfer to a customer

Post by joomnewbie79 » Fri Jan 28, 2022 5:49 pm

Hi,
if I need to transfer a site to a customer, is there anything I ought to do first to avoid sharing my personal information? Can I clear the jos_sessions table or the Joomla error log files? Thank you

Just FYI, Joomla 4 doesn't use "jos_" as a table prefix.

I don't know what personal information you're trying to protect, but no such data is stored in the sessions table nor the error log.

I think perhaps the more important issue is to remove your own SU account if you are handing a website over and having no more involvement with its maintenance, support or development. You can create a separate Super User for your client, then remove your own account.

I'm not sure if that answers the question but it is based on the minimal information in your question.

Hi,

I think also you should remove the follow:

- your SMTP settings in Global configuration
- the license keys of your purchased extensions in the extension parameters, because he will have access to updates even if you're not your customer anymore.
- delete your account (I suppose you are super admin)

Do I need to delete my account and create a new one or can I just change the current admin's details to the new owner's real name and email?

It's better to change the current admin's details, instead of create a new one, because some articles maybe is assigned with the super admin ID.
