Media section: Single sub-folder not displaying content

Post by mercury » Mon Jun 05, 2023 2:24 am

Live J4 site is OK. Localhost backup version has a small 'new' problem. The Media file contains a number of folders. The last on the list has 9 sub folders and the last of this 9 will not display its image content with the following warning being displayed. Unable to delete the offending folder as well! The "fileinfo available" in the php settings is set to 'yes'. Advice would be appreciated. Cheers Rod

Error
Property 'mime_type' of argument 'item' of event onFetchMediaItems has a wrong item. Valid: string

Is the name of this folder similar to the other subfolders, i.e. no spaces and no special characters?

What about the names of files in that folder? Do any of the file names have unusual extensions?

Go to Content - Media - Options. Is the option 'Check MIME Types' selected? Try disabling that option and check if that gets rid of the error and if the Media listing still works.

The Options page has several entries. Locate 'Legal Image Extensions' and 'Legal MIME Types'. Check the extensions of the filenames in the problem folder and make sure that the MIME types of all extensions of image files are listed under the heading 'Image types' in the https://developer.mozilla.org/ document Important MIME types for Web developers and that each of those MIME types is included in the list in the Media option 'Legal MIME Types'.

Evening once again Toivo. Thanks much for the prompt advice. Response follows....
1. Media content is identical on both the localhost and published site copies including jpg, png & pdf. Published site is fine.
2. See attached screen grab of the media folders. When the bottom item Venue Graphics is selected the error occurs.
This and one other sub folder contain pdf media (error also occurs there as I have just identified) but if pdf is the file type causing the problem in xampp why does it not replicate on the live site?
3. No special bits in the folder naming.
4. No unusual file extensions used!
5. Tried your other suggestions with no change to the error condition.
Please comment. Cheers.... Rod

Apprentice update to advise that the problem has been accommodated for the want of a better term. The localhost was running on XAMPP 8.1. Accessed the image folder in windows explorer and removed the pdf files from two separate locations, error disappeared and then converted same to jpg and updated the content. Still interesting that the published site does not experience said error! Thread closed. Cheers. R
