Forgot Password Username Topic is solved

Hello,

I have been using Joomla for my website for about 10 - years. I paid someone to build and maintain the site for me with the exception of a few times that I have gone in as administrator and made small adjustments. I am currently trying to log into the site as an administrator.
The login screen says "wrong username or password. Please enter email address."
I enter email address and nothing happens.
Could it be that the person who maintained site for me has changed the user name? I have sent him emails and he has not replied.

Please advise?

Do you have phpMyAdmin access to the database?
Or FTP access to the website?

If so, you could reset a password or create a new Super User account.

Thank you for this help. I truly appreciate it. After reading the site at the link that you provided I researched the topic and have concluded that I do not have phpMyAdmin access to the database or FTP access to the website. Would you recommend that I contact the staff at Joomla for administrator access?

No, nobody in the Joomla community knows your username/password. And they do not have access to your database or FTP. Only the person who installed the Joomla CMS software for you, knows those details.

Or you could try to contact the hosting company where your website is installed.
You might be able to find the company by doing a WHOIS for your domain name.
E.g. with https://who.is/
