restore causing error 500

Post by MartenJ » Tue Jul 09, 2024 2:59 pm

I had a mayor crash during our upgrade to jomla 5. Luckily we did our backup just before the chrash. The restore with akeeba kickstart seems to do all right the files are unpacked as they should and the database is also restored. But booth frontend and controlpanel is showing error 500.[img]
error 500.PNG
Jomla version that we are trying to restore: 4.4
Akeeba Kickstart Core 8.0.5
PHP:8.2
Any Idea Of what is causing this error?Where to start? May be this is question for the akeeba support but since. The error message is generated by joomla and not kickstart I hope someone knows what might causing this
greatful for all help!

Try and restore the backup on your local pc and determine if it is corrupted. I use Wamp server on my PC for such tests.https://wampserver.aviatechno.net/?lang=en

the backup is not corrupeted. but very strange. this norning sudenly a new error page appears saying: "Environment setting not ready
It looks like you are trying to run Joomla! from our git repository. Doing this requires you to first complete a couple of extra steps."

this is not an akeeba problem it is jomla related. can som one plase explain what this error message means?

Did you restore the backup into an empty folder? If the old Joomla 5 files were still there, errors would inevitably occur.

I 'suspect' our issue was that we had updated the site from J4.4.x to J5.1.1 and then tried restoring the site back to 4.4.x — Not entirely sure but I believe there was some J5.1.x data still in the database which may have caused our error.

A crucial file or a folder is missing from the Joomla folder. Check these two:
libraries/vendor/autoload.php
media/vendor

The following code snippet displays the error page:

Code: Select all

// Check for presence of vendor dependencies not included in the git repository
if (!file_exists(JPATH_LIBRARIES . '/vendor/autoload.php') || !is_dir(JPATH_PUBLIC . '/media/vendor')) {
    echo file_get_contents(JPATH_ROOT . '/templates/system/build_incomplete.html');

    exit;
}

What about the folder media/vendor, does it exist? Are the permissions correct?

The code snippet quoted above in the two scripts administrator/include/app.php and includes/app.php in Joomla 4 and Joomla 5 loads the "Environment Setup Incomplete" page .

Thank you for the update! It would be interesting to know what happened, if it was something Akeeba Backup or Kickstart did or didn't do.
