Hi All, this is going to be a long one, I do apologise.
I am not sure if this has any bearing on the issue but I thought I would mention it anyway. My website is hosted with bluehost. I have been asking them about thheir outdated mysql version wich is 5.7. Due to this I cannot update to Joomla 5. They told me the only option is to move to one of their other servers which incidentally comes with a premium price tag of a minimum of £65 a month, but the latter part is irrelevant to the issue and just me being annoyed.
A few days ago I had some technical queries, and they updated the php version to 8.2. A few days later, I noticed that I am locked out of my website. The admin password simply did not work anymore. I don't know if this was a security breach, or if this was caused by something that was done during the tech support chat.
I have installed SP page builder in the last week, but that was the only change done by me to my website I did a akeeba backup but that was about it.
I managed to re-gain access by adding 'admin2' to the database (thanks joomla help files!) and login in to the backend.
However, I now have no access to any configuration settings. Global conifguration is hidden form me, even as an admin, I can't go into hikashop config, and I it appears that I, do not have permissions to configure anything with admin priviledges.
Now the strange thing is that it also affects my husbands website which is hosted on the same server.
I get the same 'You don't have permission to access this. Please contact a website administrator if this is incorrect.' message on his website which I have not touched in months.
This makes me think it's some sort of permission error (files permission looked right in the root if that means anything) It first said it's a 403 error, but this error message has now disappeared and is replaced with just 'you don't have permission...'
I contacted bluehost and they said they can't help me because it's a script error and they are not trained to fix it.
I have used joomla for a long time, but I am absolutely not clued up enough to figure out what the issue is. I would truly appreciate it if anyone can shed some light on how I even begin to sort this out. I will attach some of the error messages I am getting. Bar that I will have to rebuild the whole thing from scratch.
hikashop configuration access denied
access denied - I get this message when I click on the 'global configuration' url in my browser history from when it still worked.
Admin panel without access to global config
System dashboard limited access
I have tried to run the forum post assistant, but I am evidently doing something wrong! I extracted it and put it in my root folder then get this error message.
Error 500 when trying to run FPA
As mentioned, I am only a casual user and not very good at this, so apologies if I am doing something that is evidently the wrong, and I am not realising it!

Re: 403 access denied
Create a test.html
Type some text in it
Save and upload to your site
Point your browser at yoursite/test.html
Then do the same with a test.php
You could also rename .html to back.html

Hi @Webdongle, thanks for trying to help. Okay, both files uploaded. They are called
test.html and test.php.
The html works, the php brings up another HTML 500 error.

Try renaming .html to bak.html and see if test.php file can be reached. If it's not the .htaccess causing it then it's a server setting.

Re: 403 access denied
Thank you very much for that.
Unfortunately the HTTP 500 error persists... It's definitely an error that affects all of my websites hosted with them as the other admin panel for my husband's website throws up the same erorr with test.html and test.php.
I also do not have access to any configuration settings on my husbands admin panel when logged in as administrator.
My host (bluehost) said it's a script error and that they can't help me. I am just out of my depth to determine if that is correct. Not sure what I can do if it is a server error and they say it's not. Thanks ever so much for trying to help.

https://wampserver.aviatechno.net/ on your pc and transfer your site. If it works on localhost then its the host
If it doesn't then use phpmyadmin to disable all 3rd party plugins

Re: 403 access denied
Thanks so much, I am going to give this a shot tomorrow after work (it's too late here to do start anything now). Hopefully this will help in figuring out what the issue is, otherwise I will take it as a hint that the website needs re-doing.Webdongle wrote: ↑Mon Oct 14, 2024 9:48 pm https://wampserver.aviatechno.net/ on your pc and transfer your site. As already mentioned, I appreciate all the help! I'll post back once I have tried this.
