can only edit article after admin login

prior to 4.x migration, i was able to edit articles either by Admin login => article search => edit OR from frontend, normal login, go to page and click on edit.

after 4.x migration, trying to edit from front end does check out the article, but displays a blank blue screen.
Everything now needs to be done via Admin login.

Same results seen if account group membership is listed as Admin or Super User or both

Is there a way to get back to where i can choose the method for editing?

Could be a 3rd part Template issue or a 3rd extension.
Test with Joomla's Template if no avail turn all 3rd party extensions off and try again. If that works then enable 3rd party extensions one at a time until it stops working again.

menu entries/categories/articles not my department.
i'm told the issue was lack of menu item for the parent category

i'll stick to php coding and entering data in existing articles

I’m also a newbie and had the same issue; it might be related to new user permissions or a setting in the backend—check if the frontend editing permissions are properly configured in the new version.
