Troubleshooting NavBar in site with new language

I am new to Joomla. Was asked to add a new language translation to the existing site which already had 2 languages setup.

I seemed to have duplicated the articles, categories, fields, modules and menu. However, when the site in new language, some of the items layout does not match up to existing languages. See below:

Existing menu have drop down and will display the articles in horizontal grid, also when clicked on the menu, the page changed to one with background image and have an introductory text before listing the articles under in grid format

In the one duplicated and language changed, the category does not provide a drop down. On top of that clicking on it will show blank background and broken layout of the articles in the new language.

In the Categories list, both categories have same number of articles. And they were created in batch with copy to root and change of language assignment so by right the parameters within should have been retained.

Similar batch process was done with the articles. I only make the translation in the duplicated articles.

Individual pages are showing up fine. The site has a home page article, in it have different grid displaying items from various categories. The new home page for new language also has no problem displaying these once I corrected the links to the files in the new language.

It seems only the navbar is where I have problem finding out where and why the items are not getting pointed to correctly or where the info are being setup.

Could someone provide some directions on this.
