Default menu item (frontpage) problem in Multi-Lingual site

Post by opkyrtsis » Mon Feb 10, 2025 3:09 pm

Hi there. I am trying to make a website multilingual. After creating a new Greek menu, It seems I cannot change the current Default menu item (frontpage) from "ALL" languages to "EN" to associate it with the Greek one. ERROR: "The Language parameter for this menu item must be set to 'All'. At least one Default menu item must have Language set to All, even if the site is multilingual." Also I cannot define another menu item as default as long as it is not set to "ALL" languages. ERROR: " A menu should have only one Default home."

I tried to do it manually from the database (changed * to en-GB) It then worked; the default items have a flag for each language where is the default page in my two menus, associated with each other. But now, when I click the logo, regardless if I am in the Gr or En page, I get a 404 with a url of the type .../en/component/content/article/home?Itemid=0.

Any help on these issues would be highly appreciated. Thank you.

The Default Menu item will not be used in a Multi Language Site.

Leave the original Menu with one Menu Item (Default) alone.

Create one new Menu for each language tagged to the Language and fill it with Menu items.
You can now define one Default Menu Item for each Language. It will be marked with a Flag instead of the Star.
