Hi All,

I'm new to the Joomla. I just installed Joomla on Centos 8 environment. But when I type my server IP on web browser I'm getting below error message. Can you help me to overcome this issue?

Which version of joomla did you download? The jos prefix hasn't been used for many years.

Hi GWS,

Thanks for the reply. below are the versions I have downloaded.

PHP : 7.2.23
Joomla : Joomla_4-0-1-Stable-Full_Package.zip
Mysql: Mysql 8.0

In my configuration.php file
public $dbprefix = 'jos_';

Hi Brian,

Thanks for your time. :) As per below guide I have only unzip it and after completing all steps I type my machine server IP on web browser to continue with installation, but it gives me above mentioned error message and cannot proceed.

You can not have completed the instructions in that article. I know that because there is NO configuration.php file until AFTER you have completed step5

Brian is right...you did not install it and just unzipped the package and typed the IP to get going. That is wrong....Go to step 5 in that article and follow each step as Brian suggested so Joomla get's properly installed

Thanks Bryan, Thanks Leo.

I have followed all the instructions as it is. Then when I type my IP on the web browser I got error message "Insufficient permission to create configuration.php. I have changed the joomla folder chmod value to 755 and 777 but still I got the same error. hence as per a another thread I have copied the file configuration.php-dist from installation’s folder to joomla root folder. Then only I got this jos extension error.

I have installed again from the scratch just now but I'm still getting "Insufficient permission to create configuration.php" error

Any advice on this please?

So you didnt follow the instructions in the blog post but decided not to tell anyone that. Luckily I am a mind reader and knew that you hadn't done what you said.

I can tell from what you have now written that you have also not followed other parts of those instructions correctly or you would not have had any permissions error. (Section 3)

If you start again and follow every one of those instructions (and don't add any other crap you read somewhere on the internet) then it will work.

Hi Brian,

Thanks for supporting me. I have reinstalled the joomla twice following the guide. I'm still getting "Insufficient permission to create configuration.php" message. Can you verify below commands? Do I need to make changes to those command for my environment?

$ sudo chown -R apache:apache /var/www/html/joomla
$ sudo chmod 755 /var/www/html/joomla

Chan
