Joomla 4.0.5 error 500

Post by D0li » Wed Jan 12, 2022 12:09 am

Hey all,

uploaded a joomla 4.0.5 installer and it comes up with an error 500.
we have multiple pages on the same server.

have the following errors:

[12-Jan-2022 09:58:49 Australia/Brisbane] PHP Warning: SessionHandler::read(): open(/var/cpanel/php/sessions/ea3/sess_80c531f8b72d7f73411200c42f74b65d, O_RDWR) failed: No such file or directory (2) in /home/casphone/public_html/webshop.casphone.com.au/libraries/vendor/joomla/session/src/Storage/NativeStorage.php on line 478

[12-Jan-2022 09:58:49 Australia/Brisbane] PHP Warning: session_start(): Failed to read session data: user (path: /var/cpanel/php/sessions/ea3) in /home/casphone/public_html/webshop.casphone.com.au/libraries/vendor/joomla/session/src/Storage/NativeStorage.php on line 478

Checked everything I can think of, permissions, config files, php settings and I am unable to find the reason.
Is there anyone has an idea?

Are you saying that your server has several websites already but the installation of Joomla 4.0.5 failed?

Joomla does not have an installer as such. The whole installation file is expanded either on a workstation and uploaded to the server, or, uploaded to the server and expanded there. The second method is preferred, because that minimises the chance of missing files. Then all you need to do is to browse to the website and the installer will take over.

Suggest that you go back to scratch, download the installation package of Joomla 4.0.5 from https://downloads.joomla.org and expand it again.

BTW, which version of PHP does the web server have?

Hi Toivo,

yes we have multiple joomla 3.9.10 sites working.
I uploaded the file and expanded there.
Now it looks the problem is the session safe path. It looks not write-able as fpa 1.6.4 shows to me. which is weird as other pages using it too. Working on it with the hosting company now.

The PHP is 7.4

In Global Configuration, what happens if you set Session Storage to Database? See the Help page on that item.

My bad, checked installation config, it is already on database.
