New (again?) installation

I had Joomla working at one time.... but after a system update it no longer ran, and I hadn't needed the site for awhile.

I now have a need to have it up and running; since the old site would not run, I deleted the files and the database for it and unzipped and copied over the newest joomla files ( I also deleted the previous directory that had the old, non-functioning Joomla files).

I am running Linux, Mariadb, and do have PHP installed.

I get the following screen (file attached) and am unable to start any administrative functions to try to find the issue.... Not sure what steps to take next.

I believe he did, but configuration.php is missing. The installation never finished.
Enable the missing PHP extensions on the server and try again.
File/folder permissions could also be an issue here.

File permissions are set to 775. Group and owner is www-data, the apache server user name/group. Can you tell from the FPA what PHP extensions are missing?

You have Ownership problems is the most likely reason the configuration.php didn't write. Did you try installing Joomla as Ubuntu's SU or as your Admin user?

I can change the folder permissions... can I just rerun the install script as the Su or do I need to delete the folder first?

Yes, I understand permissions are different than ownership.. I mis-stated my actions before. I have set the ownership and group to www-data:www-data and file permissions to the 755 as referenced above.

I used xampp when I installed Joomla on Ubuntu OS localhost. Using ftp with xampp, to create folders and move files etc., took care of the Ownership. I didn't use chown.

But according to https://docs.joomla.org/Installing_Joom ... ermissions
chown -R www-data:www-data /var/www/joomla
Should sort things out

However you are using two different drives so perhaps www-data Ownership is different for both drives? We need someone who fully understands Linux Ownership to jump in this thread. There is a difference between www-data and Root.

Sorry I can't help you further but like I said I used the xampp stack with ftp to solve the Ownership issue when I installed Joomla on Ubuntu. Also I only had one drive.
