Joomla not detecting next release (4.4.2)

My site, both production and test, is running release 4.4.1. Both are telling me the site is up to date despite 4.4.2 being available. Also if I switch to the 'next' channel it doesn't detect release 5 as being available. I have tried clearing the cache but it still happens

Your update to J4.x didn't work completely or you wouldn't have Beez nor blue stork templates showing.

I've been on release 4 for sometime now and have always had notifications and been able to update to the latest release until now

Check the "Update Sites" list.

@gws is [partly] right: you have old, outdated templates dating back to J! 2.5 that are populating your website and you should uninstall them. You have other outdated clutter in your website (dating back to J! 3.x) that also should be removed.

Thanks. Now resolved - I had some database files that were incorrect- correcting them solved the issue.

I have removed the old templates, but now do I determine what else is outdated and shouldn’t the upgrade to 4 have removed them.

No, the update wouldn't necessarily have removed them - it's up to you to do that.

When you originally updated to 4.x from 3.10, the pre-update check would have listed anything that could cause issues, like old 3.x extensions or 2.5.x templates allowing you to uninstall them.

Memory Limit: 128M can cause problems. Increase to 256M.
