Personally, the side menu is great, a refreshing look in Joomla 4.

There is also a Phoca admin module that does this as well. With 50 lines of additional CSS, I have made the back end of Atum acceptable....to me, a seasoned superadmin who (until a year ago) built only Joomla sites. Though I will continue to produce Joomla sites that my shop will administer, there is no way I will turn this design debacle over to clients who administer their own sites.

I agree that the top horizontal menu from Joomla 3 was way easier for beginners to learn than the new Joomla 4 side menu. Thankfully, it only takes a couple of minutes to install the Phoca Admin menu. It is free and there is no need to register. Just download, install and activate it. Thank you Phoca for saving us all a lot of hassles!
