All Notifications in Admin Panel are Red except for the Backup
Good afternoon,
In the backend of my website I have a problem.
Under notifications all but "Backup up to date" are showing red.
I have installed the Joomla 4 website with Akeeba Kickstart a few weeks ago.
I have done this with a backup from a Joomla 4 website.
What is the problem?

Reason: Moved topic back to Administration Joomla! 4.x from Extensions for Joomla! 4.x. Also, changed the subject to reflect the issue.

Click on every and do what says, like "up to date".

Re: notofications
I have clicked on Back up up to date.
So the system made a backup.
Now all the notifications are all green again.
But I still don't understand why?

Aha, I thought every button is red except that one.
But if you moved web and there no backup, maybe it just want have one. Maybe that is in Akeeba configuration.

And now the notifications are red again except for the first one (Back up) which is still green.

Re: Notifications from Akeeba Backup
It might be simpler if you provide a screenshot of your site showing the red notifications, assuming you mean the notification boxes illustrated below (for my site they are all green):
Are you seeing all or only some of these as red? Some may not be applicable (and may not even be listed in your site).

Good morning,
I have added a screenshot with the Dutch notifications that are red except one.

Re: All Notifications in Admin Panel are Red except for the Backup
Thanks for the screenshot.
It is strange because for instance, I would expect the Extensions update box to show the number of extension updates like "(4)" in parentheses. I think the core update notification also shows the version number of Joomla that is available too.
Have you checked each one of the notifications and run through the checks (such as checking for updates, new joomla version etc) and also check the template overrides? Also try the Refresh Cache in Extension Manager, and a general clearing of the browser cache?
Those notifications are generated by plugins (quickicons), and you can see them listed in the Plugins Manager. They don't have any configurable options. Perhaps disable them temporarily, clear/refresh cache then close down the browser. Use a different browser, login into your admin account, go back and reenable those plugins then check them again in the dashboard screen?
Just wondering if a refresh of the joomla files may help. Under Joomla update, there might be a button that says "Reinstall core files" or if not, you may be able to do so with the Upload and Update function by uploading the 'update' package for the same version of Joomla you're using.

Good evening,
I have tried to do everything you described.
But it didn't work.
Please take a look at the attachment.
This is the result when trying to reinstall the Joomla core files.
What is wrong with this website?
Best regards, Floris

Re: All Notifications in Admin Panel are Red except for the Backup
that 404 is the MediaWiki used by Joomla.org for their documentation - doesn't seem to have anything to do with your site.
I would restore from a backup then. Clear out the hosting space completely, and restore your backup, either one you made yourself, or if you're lucky your host may be able to restore, to a point when all this started happening (i.e. the odd notifications on the admin panel that you originally asked about).

Re: All Notifications in Admin Panel are Red except for the Backup
Same problem with our site after transfer from a sub- to our main-domain.
I've found out a workaround by opening the <settings><edit> window from any control panel module like the Notifications settings menu (wheel icon at top tight corner in the Notifications area) en closing it again. All notifications are green hereafter and everything seems to be functional. However after logging out and in the problem shows up again too. You can perform the same trick after each new session but a definitive solution would be most welcome. Any idea's not being a re-installation?
At the subdomain all seems to work well.

Re: All Notifications in Admin Panel are Red except for the Backup
Problem resolved.
During the Akeeba restoration procedure our live website address, by mistake, was given without www. in front of it. So "https://oursite.com" instead of "https://www.oursite.com". After changing this setting in the configuration.php file at the root directory from our site all went well again.
Hope this will help others experiencing this problem in the near future too. This prevents you from a re-installation.

Re: All Notifications in Admin Panel are Red except for the Backup
@ffpisano: I have been unsuccessful in trying to find the cause of this mysterious "[red] notifications" problem for several months. It is possible that your post may provide us with a clue about how this issue arises and I would be interested in exploring the matter a little further, please.
What line, exactly, in configuration.php did you change? Before you made the change, did the line look something like this:
Code: Select all
public $live_site = 'https://oursite.com';

Re: All Notifications in Admin Panel are Red except for the Backup
@sozzled: Yes that's the right line. I just forgot to add www. in front of it during the Akeeba restoration process. After the correction the problem was resolved. Glad it helps you to explain this phenomenon.

Re: All Notifications in Admin Panel are Red except for the Backup
Thanks for your reply. As a test, try changing the value of $live_siteto see if you still get these strange notifications in the admin panel.

Re: All Notifications in Admin Panel are Red except for the Backup
That seems to work fine too and means that you don't have to specify the live site at all I guess, great. For sure you noticed that the restoration of websites is not a daily task for me

I tried several permutations for the value of $live_site, but none of them cured
the red notifications ...

Re: All Notifications in Admin Panel are Red except for the Backup
I had red notification icons and by removing the live site url in the configuration file it resolves the issue for me. Many thanks. The best community ever.
