Permission denied to view public article

I have a new Joomla 4 Install. I created the initial Featured then added one additional article then placed on the menu.

When it is clicked the following error occurs.

You don't have permission to access this. Please contact a website administrator if this is incorrect

I have looked at every setting I can find and it is set to PUBLIC so see no reason for this error. This is obviously creating a big delay in setting up this site.

Ideas?

When you created your "new Joomla 4 Install", did the frontend work, out-of-the-box without adding anything else?

Even if you do not add any article (or anything else), after creating a new J! website you should be able to view the frontend and not get any "you don't have permission" error messages.

I think there's something missing after the word "featured". What, specifically, did you initially create that was not there already?

OK ... that tells me nothing.

When you created your "new Joomla 4 Install", you should have been able to go to the frontend of your website and see something (even if it was only a login form).

I assumed when I said the menu allowed me to click home and view the "feature article" that the front end was working. Otherwise would be no menu item to produce that error.

I have a contact for as well and that loades OK.

There is article named "about" with associated link on menu. When clicked get that error.

I have removed from menu, deleted article, remade both. Same error.

Tried in both Firefox and Chrome same error.

Permissions for articles are PUBLIC.

When you create a new J! website a Home menu item is automatically created for you; this menu item has the Menu Type = Featured. When you create a new J! website there are no articles, of course. If you create an article that is "featured" and you make it "public" then it should appear on the Home menu item.

I don't know what other menu items you have created but I think you have made a mistake somewhere.

I believe it was clear. I created article titled About and added to menu.

When click about it said no permission view.

Perhaps missed that in my last post.

I've used Joomla for years. I know how to add article and menu entry. That is not the subject of this post.

The problem is the permissions to view error.

The problem may be a permissions issue if you changed the view access or usergroups. I wouldn't know about that. You have not described, step by step, what you have done.

I don't understand the sentence "... created an article titled 'About' and added to menu". What, exactly, did you add to the menu? Did you add a new menu item? If you added a new menu item, what did you "add"? Perhaps a screenshot of what you "added" may help us to understand the problem better?

For a brand new, out-of-the-box J! 4.x website (without adding anything to the menu), I would create an article and tag it as featured, mark it as public, save it and then go to the home page and see if it appears. If your new featured article does not appear on your new website there is something wrong. I don't know what you have done, sorry, and I can't help you without more information.

It could be a hosting issue, it could be a J! installation issue, it could be a user error. I don't know.
