"Failed to create override" on Cassiopeia or Helix template

Pretty new to Joomla. Trying to create an override on Cassiopeia, Cassiopeia child or Helix template and get this error message. This is a pretty new install with very little changes. I don't see any php errors.

looks like the problem. Contact your Host and notify them that your site can not write to the session.save_path

I saw that, but the php section and system environment section say this

I switched to php 7.4 and the error went away, but I still cannot create an override.

But it is trying to write temp files to C:drive from D:drive. Does the user of D:drive have sufficient permission to write to C:drive?

Ive tried with the Casseopeia and child templates attempting multiple modules/components.

No real clues there then. Have you tried the site on the C:drive? Can't think of anything else other than Permissions but am not familiar with the way Permissions work on windows OS

My point is that your D: drive is not being allowed to write to C: drive. In other words, the Owner of scripts on your D: drive is a different Owner to the Owner of C: drive

Are those sessions from a program that resides on the C:drive? If so then they may have root Ownership of C:. But Joomla, being on D: drive, not having root Ownership of C: might not be able to write to C:drive. All I can suggest is try Joomla on C: and see if the result is the same.

I don't have a clue what's going on. I created a session folder on d: and changed it in Joomla settings. It's writing sessions there, but I'm still getting the error trying to create an override.

Is there a way to do this manually?
