Uploading Images - no progress bar

Post by rgtr » Sun Feb 05, 2023 6:37 pm

Hi
Upgraded to 4.2.7 ok
Uploading some images ...
Where is the info on uploading ... have a "silent screen"
It is very off putting when one has a poor internet connection . . . thanks to the SNP and failed promises.
One NEEDS a status bar or message box to tell one what is going on !

What type images are you uploading and through what section are you uploading them?

I assume you mean through Media Manager or through a photo gallery extension? (etc.) and the images are just JPG, PNG or other standard image formats.

Please define (by your term) "a poor connection". How long do the images take to load, are you uploading multiple files at once? Does using FTP (FileZilla or something similar) improve uploading time, rather than through Joomla?

By "silent" screen do you mean a completely white screen? That could indicate PHP errors. Is it possible you can upload a screenshot to the forum, showing what you're actually seeing Use the Full Editor & Preview mode to access the adding attachments function of the forum.

How large (in KB/MB) are the files - perhaps they need optimization to reduce file size before uploading?

If you feel the lack of progress bar for uploads is needed, suggest logging the suggestion on https://issues.joomla.org where that will be seen by the developers.

A Murray
Media Manager - create folder. Noted that it was not easy to open folder.
Drag and drop 5 files at a time - files 0.5 to 2mb
upload speed under 1mbps. sftp not tried
silent means ordinary screen but no progress data until files are displayed.
